Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC’s) are ideal for a wide variety of applications and uses, including:

  • Paint and Coatings
  • Chemicals
  • Food and flavorings

Intermediate bulk containers come in a variety of sizes and have many different options for fill and discharge openings. Our standard IBC’s come in 275 gallon and 330 gallon sizes. IBCs can be UN regulated or non-UN regulated.

Intermediate bulk containers are manufactured with a high density polyethylene inner bottle that is placed inside a steel cage that helps protect from transit and handling damage. The intermediate bulk container is also called an IBC container or you may see the reference of IBC tanks used. Each steel cage comes with one or two label plates that are used to display the UN rating, part number and lot code information from the manufacturer and can be used to display your own labels. Label plates are available in small, medium, large and extra-large sizes depending on your preference. Wood and Metal pallets are available on IBC’s.

Fill openings are available in 6 inch and 9 inch sizes. Fill caps come standard in black but custom sizes may be available at higher purchase volumes. Standard fill caps come as a plain screw cap, however integrated vents as well as 2 inch center bungs are available.

Discharge valves are located in the bottom center portion of the tote where product may be easily evacuated from the IBC. These valves are a one piece polyethylene body that contains a handle, gasket and an internal mechanism that allows the user to quickly turn on and off the flow of their product. Valves are available as a butterfly, ball or cylinder valve. Butterfly valves contain an internal flat disc that is turned sideways to allow flow of the product and turned back flat to restrict flow. Ball and cylinder valves contain an internal round ball or cylinder with a hole in it. When the handle is turned, the opening turns to allow product to flow. All types of valves are effective, but ball or cylindrical valves offer twice the sealing power in the closed position and offers unrestricted flow in the open position.

Valves have a few different options for connections on their ends. They are available with metric or NPS 2 inch ends as well as 2 inch or 1.5 inch quick disconnect fittings. If these connections do not work for your application, a number of adaptors are available.

If you need an even heavier duty IBC, check out the REMCON IBC. This UN rated intermediate bulk HDPE FDA approved container is built and tested for longevity and offers a Banjo 4 bolt, stubby 2” PTF drain valve with male camlock. These are wonderful containers for safe, worry-free chemical handling and all come with a 100% two year guarantee.
